Spiders!
All the spiders are coming inside the house. I'M DEATHLY AFRAID OF SPIDERS. I hate them. I don't care if they eat other bugs. I would rather have all the other bugs (I never see any other bugs in the house) than have 1 spider in my house. They are little messengers of satan. If I heard of a place that had no spiders, I would move there.
It's kind of like Ireland that would be a complete haven for people afraid of snakes. No snakes. I need no spiders.

(I'm coming to Florida in 5 days, yay!)

If you can cultivate an appreciation of pholcidae (aka daddy long legs, cellar spiders, vibrating spider) you spider problems will be solved. Not only are they cute, as much as a spider can be, they also keep all other spiders away and they build some pretty stylish webs.

Ah ha, so you would think... I already am okay with daddy long legs (they were all over when I was growing up). For some reason in my mind I don't even think of them as spiders, they just aren't scary looking.

I can handle small body/long legs to the point of having a conversation like this: "Okay, you stay over there, I"ll be over here. ONE STEP towards me, and out the door, got it?"

Big body/small legs? I get hubs to get them out. /shudder

Did you know there are snakes here now? Once the Celtic Tiger thing happened, people were sneaking them in and then when they got too big, they let 'em go out in the wilds. Good chance a lot of them died, but still...

I always figured SOMEONE has to have them as pets, and normally thats how new snakes get introduced into a population (read: news story on 15ft long pythons in Florida, ummmm).

I don't mind spiders so long as they aren't the poisonous kind and aren't on me or too close to me. Some of them are kinda cute.

But, I understand being afraid of them. I don't think there are any animals that aren't dangerous (which I define as poisonous, or likely to attack humans without provocation or with little provocation) that I'm scared of. Those dangerous creatures I'd rather admire from a healthy distance where they can't get at me.

I suppose a lot of this comes from living in Florida where spiders CAN be dangerous. Cormac is always on my case "they don't bite here". There is something I just can't shake, I nearly go into panic attack mode when I see them. I'm getting better, admittedly.

This post just gave me the very worst case of the creepy crawlies. *shudder*

We have an uneasy truce outside, but any spider in my house dies by shoe.
